Section 50 - Controlling Mergers into the Future

A I Tonking
(1992) 20 Australian Business Law Review 285

Opening paragraph

'Of all competition issues, mergers and acquisitions seem to arouse the deepest passions and yet to be the least understood. The processes of dealing with mergers suffer greater wear and tear and are more frequently the subject of analysis and review.2 The debate is again in the public arena and it is tempting to try to make out a consistent philosophical approach to the regulation of mergers in the Australian context. Whether the attempt succeeds will be for the reader to determine.'
